Who is General Sarath Fonseka

General Sarath Fonseka is a war hero who ended 26 years of civil war in Sri Lanka. He was twice wounded in the line of duty, the second time almost fatally. However, he displayed exceptional courage and sacrifice and came back from these injuries to see the war through to a successful finish. Sarath Fonseka has dedicated his life to serving the people of Sri Lanka, putting his own life in harm's way. Even after his retirement he has returned to to serve his motherland one more time. For the first time in many years Sri Lankans have a candidate of exceptional courage, integrity and moral character, a candidate who has proved his unflinching resolve in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles; an officer and a gentleman. He stands in stark contrast to the corruption, hypocrisy and double talk of other politicians. We are at a turning point in the history of our nation, at the brink of a golden age after decades of death, destruction and missed opportunities. Will we let the corruption, thuggery, nepotism and cronyism of the current Government destroy us, or will we join hands with a new leader and usher in an sage of peace and prosperity? The choice is ours.
